Final Progress of Steel Box Girder Installation of Yogyakarta-Bawen Toll Road Package 1

Yogyakarta – The installation of the steel box girder with an 80-meter span — the longest bridge span in the Yogyakarta–Bawen Toll Road Package 1 (Section 1) — is now entering its final stage. This achievement marks one of the key milestones in the implementation of the project, which is part of the National Strategic Projects (PSN) list. (23/04)

In this project, WIKAIKON has been entrusted by PT Adhi Karya (Persero) Tbk as the implementation partner for the procurement and installation of steel box girders, which serve as a critical component of the bridge's superstructure. These components are designed to evenly distribute vehicle loads and ensure the bridge’s long-term stability.

Throughout the construction process, WIKAIKON project team in the field consistently prioritized technical precision, compliance with work safety procedures, and strict adherence to quality standards. These efforts ensure that each development phase delivers infrastructure that is strong, reliable, and built according to the specified technical requirements.

As part of its technical innovations, the project also integrated the use of Unibridge — a modular bridge system proven to be efficient, robust, and quick to install. The system’s advantages include flexible design, ease of mobilization, and efficiency in field implementation, making it an ideal solution to accelerate construction timelines while maintaining structural quality.

The installation of both the Steel Box Girder and the Unibridge structures was carried out using customized technical approaches. A combination of cranes and trusses was employed for the Steel Box Girder works, while a gantry launcher was used for the Unibridge installation. All equipment was specially designed to lift and precisely install structural elements from above the bridge deck. This method allowed installation activities to proceed without disrupting activities below, improving work efficiency and maintaining high safety standards throughout the project area.

The Yogyakarta–Bawen Toll Road is expected to serve as a strategic link, strengthening connectivity between the Special Region of Yogyakarta and Bawen Regency in Central Java Province, while promoting smoother logistics and economic growth in the surrounding areas.

The successful installation of the structure at this final stage marks an important milestone in national infrastructure development efforts and reflects WIKAIKON commitment to contributing through innovative, efficient, and sustainable construction solutions for the progress of the nation.
